Langstaff’s Late Strike Denies Leicester in Championship Draw with Millwall

Langstaff’s Late Strike Denies Leicester in Championship Draw with Millwall

Leicester City FC were held to a dramatic 1–1 home draw by Millwall FC on Friday night, as Macaulay Langstaff’s last-minute equaliser cancelled out Harry Souttar’s opener in a tense Championship clash on matchday 45.

With both sides pushing for a decisive result late on, Leicester finally broke the deadlock in the 78th minute. Centre-back Harry Souttar surged forward and found the breakthrough, finishing after being set up by Luke Thomas to give the hosts a 1–0 lead.

Millwall, however, refused to fold. Managerial decisions proved crucial, with Macaulay Langstaff introduced from the bench in the 72nd minute for Thierno Ballo. The move paid off in the 90th minute, when Langstaff struck the equaliser after being picked out by Ryan Leonard, levelling the score at 1–1 and silencing the home celebrations.

The visitors had already been forced into an early change, as Mihailo Ivanovic replaced Josh Coburn after just 10 minutes. Leicester turned to their own bench around the hour mark, bringing on Louis Page for Divine Mukasa and Jeremy Monga for Bobby Reid in search of greater attacking impetus. Later, Jordan James replaced Oliver Skipp and Stephy Mavididi came on for Abdul Issahaku on 80 minutes, while Patson Daka made way for Olabade Aluko at the death.

Millwall’s combative approach brought a flurry of yellow cards, with Jake Cooper, Femi Azeez and Ballo all booked in the second half. Leicester’s Hamza Choudhury also received a caution on 72 minutes.
