Mbappé and Vinicius Strike as Real Madrid Edge Alavés in La Liga
Real Madrid CF strengthened their Primera Division campaign with a 2–1 victory over Deportivo Alavés on matchday 33, decided by goals from Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Junior.
The hosts took control in the first half and were rewarded on 30 minutes. Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring for Real Madrid, finishing a move created by Arda Guler, whose assist broke the Alavés defensive line and put the forward in position to make it 1–0.
Real continued to push and doubled their advantage shortly after the interval. In the 50th minute, Vinicius Junior struck to make it 2–0, converting after good work from Federico Valverde on the assist. The second goal gave Madrid a cushion, allowing them to manage the tempo against an Alavés side forced to chase the game.
The match featured a number of changes on both sides. Real Madrid brought on Antonio Rüdiger for Éder Militão at half-time, later introducing Brahim Diaz and Franco Mastantuono for Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler on 58 minutes. Dani Carvajal and Eduardo Camavinga also entered just after the hour mark. Alavés responded with multiple substitutions of their own as they searched for a way back.
Alavés’ persistence finally paid off deep into stoppage time. In the 90+3rd minute, Toni Martínez pulled one back, finishing after a pass from Ander Guevara to narrow the score to 2–1. The late goal set up a tense finale but came too late to change the outcome.
The referee showed two yellow cards over the 90 minutes: Aurélien Tchouameni was booked for Real Madrid in the 35th minute, while Ángel Pérez received a caution for Alavés on 90 minutes.
Real Madrid’s win keeps them on track in the Primera Division title race, while Alavés leave the Spanish capital empty-handed despite their late rally. More detailed statistical data and full lineups were not available at the time of writing.
