FC Internazionale Milano tightened their grip near the top of Serie A with a commanding 3–0 victory over Cagliari Calcio on matchday 33, delivering all three points in a dominant second-half display.
After a goalless first half, Inter finally broke through in the 52nd minute. Marcus Thuram-Ulien finished off a well-worked move, converting after a delivery from Federico Dimarco to put the hosts 1–0 up and reward their growing pressure.
Just four minutes later, Nicolò Barella doubled the advantage. The midfielder struck in the 56th minute to make it 2–0, giving Cagliari a mountain to climb as Inter seized control of the contest.
Cagliari had earlier seen both Sebastiano Esposito and Gennaro Borrelli booked in quick succession, receiving yellow cards in the 23rd and 25th minutes respectively, as they struggled to contain Inter’s attacks.
The visitors turned to their bench shortly after Inter’s second goal, with Paul Mendy and Alessandro Deiola introduced on 57 minutes. Further changes followed in the 76th minute for both sides, as Cagliari brought on Gabriele Zappa and Michael Folorunsho, while Inter refreshed their lineup with Luis Henrique, Ange-Yoan Bonny and Piotr Zieliński replacing Dimarco, Thuram and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Inter then added late gloss to the scoreline in stoppage time. In the 90+2nd minute, Zieliński made his mark off the bench, finishing after being set up by Denzel Dumfries to seal a 3–0 result. Davide Frattesi and Andy Diouf also appeared late on for the hosts, while Andrea Belotti was introduced for Cagliari.
The comprehensive win at home underlines Inter’s strong position in the Serie A run-in. More detailed statistics, lineups and match incidents were not available at the time of writing. Full match information can be found on the Ballaxy match centre: Inter vs Cagliari.
