Paris Saint-Germain seized the initiative in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie with a 2–0 away win over Liverpool FC on 14 April 2026, thanks to a decisive brace from Ousmane Dembélé.
After a tight and largely uneventful first half in terms of clear chances and major incidents, Liverpool introduced Mohamed Salah early, with the forward coming on for Hugo Ekitike in the 31st minute in a bid to sharpen their attack. Jeremie Frimpong was also withdrawn at half-time for Joe Gomez, while Alexander Isak made way for Cody Gakpo as the hosts looked for a different rhythm after the break.
PSG gradually grew into the contest, making a key change on 52 minutes when Bradley Barcola replaced Désiré Doué. That attacking switch proved crucial. In the 72nd minute, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia set up Dembélé, who broke the deadlock to put the visitors 1–0 up and silence the home crowd.
Liverpool pushed for a response, introducing youngster Rio Ngumoha for Gomez on 67 minutes and later Curtis Jones for Alexis Mac Allister, who had been booked late in the first half. Ibrahima Konaté also went into the referee’s book in the 85th minute as the tension rose.
Deep into stoppage time, PSG struck what could be a pivotal second. Barcola turned provider, assisting Dembélé once more in the 90+1st minute to double the advantage and leave Liverpool with a mountain to climb in the return leg.
