Racing Santander Hit Five Past Almería in Segunda División Rout

Real Racing Club de Santander produced a powerful comeback performance to defeat UD Almería 5–1 on matchday 35 of the Segunda División on 12 April 2026.

The visitors struck first in the 12th minute, when Adri Embarba finished a move set up by Marcos Luna to give Almería a 1–0 lead. Racing responded quickly: in the 21st minute, Andrés Martín levelled the score at 1–1, converting after a pass from Manu Hernando.

Just seven minutes later, the turnaround was complete. Iñigo Vicente put Santander in front in the 28th minute, assisted by Martín, sending the hosts into the break with a 2–1 advantage.

The match’s disciplinary tone shifted just before half-time. Yellow cards were shown to Nélson Monte and Rubí for Almería, and Andrés Martín and Manu Hernando for Racing. In a crucial moment, Almería’s Dion Lopy was sent off in the 45th minute, leaving the away side with ten men for the entire second half.

Almería reacted with a double change at the interval, introducing Stefan Džodić and Arnau Puigmal, while Racing later refreshed their attack with Asier Villalibre and Marco Sangalli. Racing’s control grew against the depleted visitors, despite a 75th-minute red card shown to Mario García that briefly evened numbers.

The hosts then cut loose in the final stages. Villalibre made it 3–1 in the 79th minute from a Vicente assist. Three minutes later, Peio Canales added a fourth, set up by Sangalli. The pair then reversed roles in the 88th minute, with Sangalli scoring Racing’s fifth after a pass from Canales to complete the 5–1 scoreline.

Later substitutions included Patrick Soko and André Horta for Almería, and further changes for Racing, as the home side comfortably managed the closing minutes. Beyond the listed goals, cards and substitutions, detailed statistical data and additional match events were not available.

The result reinforces Racing Santander’s strong push in the Segunda División, while Almería leave Santander with a heavy defeat and disciplinary concerns.
