Mantova 1911 claimed an impressive 2–0 away victory over Spezia Calcio on Sunday afternoon, taking full advantage of their chances in a composed Serie B performance on matchday 34.
The visitors took control in the first half and broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute. Davide Bragantini finished off a move created by Tommaso Maggioni, whose assist unlocked the Spezia defence to put Mantova 1–0 up.
Spezia had already shown their frustration early on when Alessandro Romano was booked in the 13th minute. Mantova responded in kind with firm challenges of their own, as Ali Dembele and Simone Trimboli both received yellow cards before the break.
Spezia coach turned to his bench aggressively at half-time, making a triple substitution that introduced Boris Radunović, Leonardo Sernicola and Gianluca Lapadula in an attempt to change the rhythm of the game. Later, Luca Vignali and Vanja Vlahovic were also brought on as the hosts chased an equaliser.
Instead, Mantova struck again in the 72nd minute. Fresh from the bench, Nicolò Buso, who had replaced goalscorer Bragantini just a minute earlier, found the net to double the lead. Simone Trimboli, already on a booking, supplied the assist to make it 2–0 and effectively seal the contest.
Mantova continued to manage the game in the closing stages, with Rachid Kouda picking up a late yellow card as the visitors protected their advantage. Spezia were unable to mount a successful response, and the match finished 0–2.
