RCD Mallorca earned an impressive 3–0 home win over Rayo Vallecano de Madrid on Matchday 31 of the Primera Division, powered by a first-half brace from Vedat Muriqi and a second-half strike from Jan Virgili.
The breakthrough arrived in the 36th minute. Samuel Almeida Costa picked out Vedat Muriqi, who finished to give Mallorca a 1–0 lead. Just four minutes later, the Kosovan forward struck again. This time he was set up by Zito Luvumbo, doubling the advantage in the 40th minute and putting the hosts firmly in control before the interval.
Rayo Vallecano struggled to establish rhythm and their frustration showed early on. Nobel Mendy was booked in the 23rd minute, followed by a yellow card for Florian Lejeune in the 32nd minute. At half-time, Rayo attempted to change the dynamic with a double substitution, as Jorge de Frutos and Pathé Ciss came on for Nobel Mendy and Óscar Valentín.
Any hopes of a comeback were effectively ended in the 65th minute. Substitute Jan Virgili, introduced just three minutes earlier for Zito Luvumbo, finished a move created by Pablo Torre to make it 3–0. Moments later, Rayo’s Andrei Rațiu was booked, their fourth yellow card of the afternoon after Randy Ntekja had also gone into the book in the 53rd minute.
Mallorca managed the closing stages comfortably, with further changes including Takuma Asano and Marash Kumbulla replacing Pablo Torre and Samuel Almeida Costa on 72 minutes. David López received Mallorca’s only booking in the 80th minute, while additional substitutions from both benches saw out the contest.
With this result, Mallorca claim a valuable three points in the Primera Division run-in, while Rayo Vallecano leave empty-handed after a difficult afternoon. Detailed statistics beyond goals, bookings and substitutions were not available at the time of writing.
