Stade Rennais FC 1901 secured a 2–1 home victory over Angers SCO on Ligue 1 matchday 29, holding off a second-half fightback from the visitors in a contest decided early by an own goal and a composed home finish.
The breakthrough arrived in the 12th minute in unfortunate fashion for Angers. Defender Marius Louãr turned the ball into his own net, handing Rennes a 1–0 lead before the hosts had properly tested the visiting goalkeeper.
Rennes doubled their advantage in the 25th minute with the game’s clearest attacking move. Musa Al Taamari finished clinically after being picked out by Valentin Rongier, giving the hosts what looked like a commanding 2–0 cushion.
Angers’ frustrations showed shortly after as Ousmane Camara received a yellow card in the 15th minute. Further changes were needed after the interval, with the visitors making a double substitution on 62 minutes. One of those substitutes, Prosper Peter, quickly shifted the momentum.
In the 65th minute, Peter halved the deficit, striking for Angers after an assist from Lilian Rao-Lisoa to make it 2–1 and set up a more tense final phase. Louãr later went into the book in the 72nd minute, capping a difficult evening for the defender.
Rennes responded to the growing pressure with a triple substitution in the 73rd minute, withdrawing Al Taamari, Alidu Seidu and Breel Embolo and introducing Nordan Mukiele, Przemysław Frankowski and Sebastian Szymański to help see out the result. Further changes from both sides followed in the closing stages, but neither team could alter the scoreline.
The win strengthens Rennes’ position in the Ligue 1 table as the regular season enters its final stretch, while Angers are left reflecting on an own goal and missed opportunity. Detailed statistics beyond goals, cards and substitutions were not available at the time of writing.
