Excelsior coach turned to his bench on the hour mark, introducing Irakli Yegoian for Emil Hansson in search of more attacking impetus. A double substitution followed in the 76th minute, with Arthur Zagre and Lennard Hartjes replaced by Simon Janssen and Mike van Duinen as the home side chased an equaliser.
