Castellón Edge Granada in Five-Goal Segunda División Thriller
CD Castellón secured a crucial 3–2 victory over Granada CF in a lively Segunda División clash on matchday 34, surviving a second-half surge from the visitors to take all three points.
The hosts struck first on 30 minutes when Ousmane Camara broke the deadlock, finishing after good work from Pablo Santiago, who provided the assist. Granada hit back quickly, however, as Jorge Pascual levelled the score just five minutes later, converting a move created by Álvaro Lemos.
Castellón restored their lead before the interval. In the 42nd minute, Barri made it 2–1, again with Santiago involved as the provider, giving the home side a narrow but deserved advantage at half-time.
The momentum stayed with Castellón early in the second half. Defender Fabrizio Brignani extended the lead to 3–1 in the 53rd minute, capitalising on a set-piece situation to give the hosts breathing space.
Granada refused to fold and were handed a route back into the game just past the hour. Pascual converted from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute to reduce the deficit to 3–2 and complete his brace, setting up a tense finale.
The match grew increasingly heated. Granada’s Pablo Sáenz and Oscar Oppong saw yellow in either half, while Castellón’s Pablo Santiago and substitute Álvaro García were also booked late on. In stoppage time, Granada’s Izan González and Pacheta were cautioned as tempers flared.
Both coaches turned to their benches in the second half, with multiple substitutions on each side as Castellón looked to protect their advantage and Granada chased an equaliser. Despite the visitors’ pressure, the home team held firm to close out an important win.
