Clinical Luton Town Hit Three Past AFC Wimbledon in League One Run-In

Luton Town FC delivered a composed away performance to defeat AFC Wimbledon 3–0 in League One on matchday 42, strengthening their position in the run-in to the end of the regular season.

The visitors struck early through Kasey Palmer, who opened the scoring in the 12th minute to give Luton control. AFC Wimbledon’s afternoon became more complicated when defender Joe Lewis received a yellow card in the 28th minute, and he was replaced shortly after on 30 minutes by Sam Hutchinson as the hosts reshuffled.

Luton were forced into an early change of their own on 17 minutes, with Ali Al-Hamadi coming on for Nahki Wells. The substitution proved decisive after the break. In the 59th minute, Al-Hamadi doubled the lead, finishing a move set up by Jake Richards to make it 2–0 and put Luton firmly in command.

Richards then added his name to the scoresheet in the 79th minute, capping an impressive display. This time the roles were reversed, with Al-Hamadi providing the assist as Luton stretched their advantage to 3–0 and effectively sealed the points. Richards had earlier been booked in the 63rd minute, the only caution shown to a Luton player.

AFC Wimbledon made a series of substitutions, including the introduction of Nathan Asiimwe, Aron Sasu and Kai Jennings, but were unable to find a way back into the contest. Late changes for Luton saw George Saville, Cohen Bramall, Davy van den Berg and Shayden Morris all introduced as the visitors comfortably saw out the final minutes.

Beyond the goals, bookings and substitutions listed, detailed match statistics and further events were not available at the time of writing.
