Oseni Brace and Tolaj Strike Fire Plymouth to 3–0 Win at Barnsley

Plymouth Argyle produced a clinical away performance to defeat Barnsley 3–0 in League One on matchday 42, powered by a brace from Owen Oseni and a goal from Lorent Tolaj.

The visitors struck first on 16 minutes. Tolaj linked up superbly with Oseni, the latter finishing to give Plymouth an early 1–0 advantage. The goal arrived shortly after Mathias Ross had been booked for the away side in the 10th minute.

Barnsley attempted to respond after the break, making a halftime change as Adam Phillips replaced Tom Bradshaw. However, Plymouth doubled their lead in the 57th minute when Tolaj converted, this time with Oseni turning provider to make it 2–0.

Plymouth tightened their grip on the contest midway through the second half with further changes, introducing Caleb Watts for Tolaj in the 64th minute and Caleb Roberts for Jamie Paterson a minute later. Barnsley turned to their bench as well, bringing on Scott Banks for Jonathan Bland in the 67th minute and later Leo Farrell for Vimal Yoganathan in the 78th.

Just a minute after that substitution, Barnsley defender Jack Shepherd received a yellow card, and Plymouth quickly capitalised again. In the 79th minute, Oseni stepped up to convert from the penalty spot, extending the lead to 3–0 and sealing his second goal of the afternoon. He was withdrawn shortly after, replaced by Xavier Amaechi in the 81st minute, with Brendan Galloway later coming on for Joe Edwards.

The victory leaves Plymouth with an emphatic three-goal margin away from home, while Barnsley were unable to find a response across the 90 minutes. Aside from the recorded goals, bookings and substitutions, more detailed match statistics and events were not available at the time of writing.
