Late Osborn Own Goal Earns Bolton a Point Against 10-Man Stockport

Bolton Wanderers FC and Stockport County FC shared the points in a dramatic 2-2 draw in League One on matchday 42, with a late own goal from Ben Osborn denying the visitors victory.

Bolton struck first on 39 minutes. Johnny Kenny opened the scoring for the hosts, putting them 1-0 up and giving Wanderers a platform at home.

Stockport responded deep into first-half stoppage time. In the 45th minute plus three, Adama Sidibeh levelled the match at 1-1, finishing from an assist by Osborn to send the sides in level at the break.

The visitors then turned the game around early in the second half. Substitute Tayo Edun, introduced at half-time for Lewis Bate, made an immediate impact by scoring in the 51st minute to give Stockport a 2-1 lead.

Bolton pushed for an equaliser and were rewarded on 79 minutes in fortuitous fashion. Osborn, who had earlier set up Stockport’s first goal, diverted the ball into his own net for an own goal, bringing the score back to 2-2.

The closing stages were heated for Stockport. Adama Sidibeh received a yellow card in the 80th minute, before late substitute Louie Barry collected a booking on 89 minutes and was then sent off with a second yellow in the 90th minute, reducing the visitors to 10 men for stoppage time.

Both managers turned to their benches in search of an edge, with Bolton introducing Thierry Gale, Amario Cozier-Duberry, Mason Burstow and Ruben Rodrigues, while Stockport brought on Edun, Roman Dixon, Josh Stokes and Barry. Detailed statistics beyond the goals, cards and substitutions were not available at the time of writing.

The draw keeps both sides fighting for position in the League One standings as the regular season enters its final stretch. Full match information can be found here, with team profiles available for Bolton Wanderers and Stockport County.
