Swedberg Inspires Second-Half Turnaround as Celta Edge Valencia in Five-Goal Thriller

RC Celta de Vigo produced a sharp second-half comeback to defeat Valencia CF 3–2 on matchday 30 of the Primera Division, overturning an early deficit in a dramatic contest.

Valencia struck first after 12 minutes. Midfielder Guido Rodríguez put the hosts in front with the opening goal, giving Valencia early control and rewarding their brighter start. That advantage held to the interval, although Celta picked up two first-half bookings, as Javi Rodríguez and Marcos Alonso were both cautioned before the break.

The visitors reacted decisively at half-time with a triple substitution, introducing Jones El-Abdellaoui, Williot Swedberg and Fer López. The changes transformed Celta’s attack. In the 56th minute, Ilaix Moriba levelled the score at 1–1, capping the visitors’ growing momentum after the restart.

Just four minutes later, the turnaround was complete. Swedberg slipped a decisive pass to Fer López, who made it 2–1 to Celta on 60 minutes, punishing Valencia’s uncertain defending. Valencia responded with a flurry of substitutions shortly after the hour mark, but struggled to regain their early control.

Celta extended their lead in the 81st minute, with Swedberg again at the heart of the action. This time the Swede finished the move himself for 3–1, combining with provider Moriba to put the visitors in a commanding position. Hugo Sotelo had earlier received Celta’s third yellow card, while Guido Rodríguez went into the book for Valencia late on.

Valencia found a lifeline deep into stoppage time. In the 90th minute plus three, Rodríguez struck his second of the match, assisted by substitute Umar Sadiq, to cut the deficit to 3–2. However, the late goal came too late to prevent Celta from taking all three points.
