New England Revolution produced an impressive 3–0 home win over Montreal Impact FC on MLS matchday 6, shrugging off a first-half red card to collect all three points.
The hosts made the ideal start. In the 6th minute, Luca Langoni opened the scoring for New England, giving them an early 1–0 lead and setting the tone for the evening.
The match grew more complicated for the Revolution shortly after the half-hour mark. Brooklyn Raines and Will Sands were both booked in quick succession, in the 27th and 33rd minutes respectively. Just a minute later, New England were reduced to ten men when Marko Mitrovic was shown a red card in the 34th minute, forcing the home side to adjust their approach for the remainder of the game.
New England made an early change following the dismissal, with Matt Polster replaced by Alhassan Yusuf in the 38th minute. Montreal responded with their own adjustment at half-time, bringing on Hennadiy Synchuk for Dagur Þórhallsson. Synchuk later picked up a yellow card in the 53rd minute, one of three bookings for the visitors along with cautions for Wikelmann Carmona (64′) and Brandan Craig (69′).
Despite being a man down, New England remained dangerous. Their resilience was rewarded in the 77th minute when Mamadou Fofana doubled the advantage, finishing a move set up by Langoni to make it 2–0.
The Revolution then added a late flourish. Substitute Peyton Miller, who had come on for Griffin Yow in the 63rd minute, struck in the 90th minute plus four to seal a comprehensive 3–0 victory.
Montreal made further substitutions in search of a response, introducing Olger Escobar and Noah Streit in the 79th minute, but they were unable to break down the ten-man hosts.
