Last-Gasp Muriqi Winner Stuns Real Madrid as Mallorca Claim Famous Victory

RCD Mallorca produced a dramatic late show to defeat Real Madrid 2–1 on matchday 30 of the Primera Division, with Vedat Muriqi scoring a stoppage-time winner on Saturday.

The hosts drew first blood in the 41st minute. Pablo Maffeo created the opening, supplying Manu Morlanes, who converted to give Mallorca a 1–0 lead heading into the break.

Real Madrid reshaped their side just before the hour, introducing Vinicius Junior, Éder Militão and Jude Bellingham in a triple substitution. Despite the changes, Carlo Ancelotti’s team had to wait until the 88th minute to find a breakthrough. Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered the assist and Militão, on as a substitute, made it 1–1 to seemingly rescue a point for the visitors.

Mallorca, however, responded almost immediately. In the first minute of stoppage time, substitute Mateo Fernandez set up Muriqi, who struck to restore the home side’s lead and seal a famous 2–1 victory over the league giants.

Both sides made extensive use of their benches. Mallorca brought on Fernandez, Jan Virgili and David López in a triple change on 70 minutes, before Antonio Sánchez replaced Zito Luvumbo late on. Madrid, meanwhile, also introduced Thiago Pitarch and Franco Mastantuono in the final stages.

The match featured several bookings: Dean Huijsen saw yellow for Real Madrid early in the second half, while Mallorca’s Leo Román and Martin Valjent were cautioned later on. In stoppage time, Mastantuono and Maffeo were also booked as tempers flared.
