Arsenal cruise past Fulham 3-0 to take temporary lead in Premier League

Arsenal strengthened their position in a tightly contested Premier League title race with a commanding 3-0 victory over Fulham at the Emirates Stadium, delivering both a statement performance and a valuable boost to their goal difference.

The win also extended Arsenal’s remarkable home dominance over Fulham, with the Gunners now unbeaten in 33 consecutive home league meetings against the west London side.

With rivals Manchester City yet to play, Mikel Arteta’s team temporarily moved to the top of the table, underlining the growing pressure in the season’s closing stages.

Saka and Gyökeres lead attack

Arsenal set the tone early, translating a bright start into a ninth-minute opener. Bukayo Saka, wearing the captain’s armband, weaved past Raúl Jiménez on the right before delivering a precise cross for Viktor Gyökeres to finish from close range.

The hosts maintained control throughout the first half, with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Magalhães both going close as Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno was repeatedly called into action. Arsenal thought they had doubled their lead through Riccardo Calafiori, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.

The second goal arrived five minutes before the break, this time with Gyökeres turning provider. The striker’s pass found Saka, who drove a low shot past Leno at the near post. Arsenal added a third just before half-time when Gyökeres stretched to convert Trossard’s delivery, capping a dominant opening 45 minutes.

Control maintained after the break

With one eye on an upcoming UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Atlético Madrid, Arteta rotated his squad in the second half. Saka was withdrawn at the interval, while Gyökeres and Declan Rice were also substituted later on.

Fulham showed brief signs of resistance after the restart, with Jiménez attempting an ambitious effort and Timothy Castagne forcing a save from David Raya. However, clear chances remained limited as Arsenal managed the game comfortably.

Leno denied Gyökeres a potential hat-trick, while Calafiori later struck the crossbar with a header, but the outcome was never in doubt.

Fulham remain in European hunt

The match also saw an unfortunate moment for former Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe, who was forced off with an injury and received warm applause from the home supporters.

For Fulham, the defeat marks only their second in six league matches, leaving them in 10th place but still within reach of European qualification spots. Arsenal, meanwhile, head into a crucial stretch of fixtures with renewed confidence and momentum, having answered recent questions about their attacking output in emphatic fashion.
