Ten-man Barnsley rescue dramatic late point against Bradford City

Ten-man Barnsley FC salvaged a dramatic 2–2 draw against Bradford City AFC in League One on matchday 44, thanks to a stoppage-time equaliser from substitute Leo Farrell.

The hosts were forced to play almost the entire game a player down after Vimal Yoganathan was sent off in the eighth minute. Despite the early setback, Barnsley showed resilience and eventually broke the deadlock five minutes after the interval. Eoghan O’Connell headed them in front on 50 minutes, converting after a delivery from fellow defender Marc Roberts.

Bradford responded strongly in the second half, helped by a raft of changes just after the hour mark. One of those substitutes, Nick Powell, made a decisive impact. Introduced in the 66th minute, he levelled the match in the 73rd, finishing a move set up by Stephen Humphrys to make it 1–1.

The visitors then turned the game on its head in cruel fashion for Barnsley. In the 82nd minute, Roberts, earlier the provider for the opener, put through his own net, with the own goal officially credited to the Barnsley defender to give Bradford a 2–1 lead.

Barnsley manager’s bench changes kept the hosts pushing, with Reyes Cleary introduced on 61 minutes and Farrell arriving in the 89th. Deep into stoppage time, that pair combined to rescue a point. In the 90th minute plus six, Farrell struck to make it 2–2, finishing from a pass by Cleary to spark late celebrations for the home side.

Bradford collected three yellow cards through Will Swan, Ibou Touray and Jenson Metcalfe, while Barnsley’s Jonathan Bland and Cleary were also booked. Beyond the recorded goals, cards and substitutions, detailed minute-by-minute match statistics and further incidents were not available at the time of writing.
