Cesena and Sampdoria Cancel Each Other Out in Goalless Serie B Stalemate
AC Cesena and UC Sampdoria shared the points in a 0–0 draw on Serie B matchday 36, as neither side managed to find a decisive touch in a tightly contested encounter on 25 April 2026.
With promotion and play-off battles intensifying in the closing weeks of the Serie B season, both teams were unable to turn effort into goals in a match that ultimately produced more yellow cards and substitutions than clear-cut chances, based on the available data.
Sampdoria collected three bookings over the course of the game. Luigi Cherubini was the first name in the referee’s notebook with a yellow card in the 30th minute, followed after the break by defender Dennis Hadžikadunić in the 57th minute and midfielder Oliver Abildgaard in the 64th minute.
Cesena’s only booking came deep into stoppage time, when Gianluca Frabotta was cautioned in the 90th minute. The full-back had entered the pitch earlier in the second half, replacing Tommaso Corazza in the 54th minute as the hosts looked to freshen up their flanks.
Both coaches turned to their benches in search of a winner. Cesena introduced Frabotta and Gaetano Castrovilli just before the hour mark, and later Riccardo Ciervo, Giacomo Vrioni and Vittorio Magni. Sampdoria responded with a series of changes of their own: Fabio Depaoli and Matteo Palma came on in the 65th minute, followed by Francesco Conti on 75 minutes, and then late attacking alterations with Manuel Cicconi and Edoardo Soleri entering the fray in the 84th minute.
Despite the tactical reshuffles, neither AC Cesena nor UC Sampdoria could break the deadlock, and the match at Cesena vs Sampdoria ended goalless. Detailed data on shots, chances and goalkeeping actions is not available, limiting further assessment of the match’s key moments.
The draw leaves both clubs to look ahead to their final fixtures of the regular Serie B campaign, with every remaining point crucial in determining their ultimate positions in the 2025–26 table.
