VfB Stuttgart delivered a commanding performance on Bundesliga Matchday 29, overpowering Hamburger SV 4–0 at home with four different players on the scoresheet.
Angelo Stiller opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, finishing off a move created by Jamie Leweling to give Stuttgart an early advantage. Just ten minutes later, Chris Führich doubled the lead, turning in a pass from Ermedin Demirovic to put the hosts firmly in control at 2–0.
Stuttgart maintained their grip on the game after the break. In the 56th minute, Maximilian Mittelstädt added a third, with Führich turning provider this time to cap another well-worked attacking move. Any faint hopes of a Hamburg response faded as the match wore on, despite a flurry of substitutions from the visitors around the hour and 72-minute marks.
The hosts continued to push and were rewarded late on. In the 86th minute, substitute Bilal El Khannouss made it 4–0, finishing from a pass by fellow substitute Tiago Tomás to complete the rout.
There were a few disciplinary notes: Chema Andrés received a yellow card for Stuttgart in the 24th minute, while Nicolás Capaldo and Deniz Undav were both booked in the 80th minute for Hamburg and Stuttgart respectively.
Stuttgart also refreshed their lineup in the second half with a triple change on 70 minutes, introducing Tiago Tomás, Nikolas Nartey and El Khannouss, and later bringing on Jeremy and Josha Vagnoman in the 88th minute. Hamburg turned to Otto Stange, Robert Glatzel, Nicolás Capaldo and Giorgi Gocholeishvili from the bench in search of a response that never arrived.
