Street’s Stoppage-Time Strike Denies Stevenage in Four-Goal League One Draw

Stevenage FC were denied all three points late on as Lincoln City substitute Robert Street struck in stoppage time to secure a 2–2 draw in their League One clash on matchday 44.

The hosts made a blistering start. On just three minutes, Louis Thompson opened the scoring for Stevenage, finishing after captain Carl Piergianni provided the assist to make it 1–0. Lincoln responded on 17 minutes, when Tendayi Darikwa levelled the contest with a well-taken effort, pulling the visitors back to 1–1.

Stevenage regained control midway through the first half. In the 27th minute, Jamie Reid restored the lead, converting after good work from Daniel Kemp, who registered the assist for 2–1. That advantage held through to half-time, despite yellow cards for Lincoln’s Sonny Bradley on 44 minutes and Stevenage’s Matt Phillips a minute later.

The second half brought a flurry of substitutions as both sides searched for an edge. Stevenage replaced early scorer Thompson with Jordan Houghton on 56 minutes, while Lincoln introduced Tom Bayliss, Robert Street and Alfie Lloyd shortly after the hour mark in a triple attacking reshuffle. Darikwa, Lincoln’s first-half scorer, was withdrawn on 77 minutes for Deji Elerewe, with Dom Jefferies also entering the fray.

Stevenage looked to see out the win with late changes of their own, bringing on Bez Lubala and Daniel Sweeney for Phillips and Reid in the 87th minute, and Dan Butler for Saxon Earley on 90 minutes. However, Lincoln’s pressure finally told in stoppage time. Street, who had earlier replaced Ryan Oné, struck in the 90th minute plus one to make it 2–2 and then received a yellow card in the aftermath.

Detailed statistics such as possession, shots and full lineups were not available, but the goal and card data underline a tense, hard-fought draw that leaves both sides sharing the points. For more on League One, visit Ballaxy’s League One hub, or see the full match page at this link.
