Internacional CF Miami and New York Red Bulls shared the points in a lively 2–2 draw on MLS matchday 7, with both sides trading the lead before settling for a result that leaves unanswered questions for each defence.
The visitors struck first on 15 minutes when Jorge Ruvalcaba finished a move created by Julian Hall, giving New York Red Bulls an early advantage. Miami needed almost the entire first half to respond, but levelled in first-half stoppage time. In the 45+1st minute, Mateo Silvetti converted after clever work from World Cup winner Rodrigo de Paul, sending the sides into the break at 1–1.
Miami coach turned to his bench at half-time, introducing Dániel Pintér for Reguilón, and the hosts seized control soon after the restart. On 55 minutes, forward Germán Berterame struck to make it 2–1, completing the turnaround and putting Internacional CF Miami in position for a statement home win.
New York Red Bulls, however, refused to fade. After Cade Cowell picked up a yellow card in the 59th minute and was later replaced by Rafael Mosquera, they found their response in the 77th minute. Substitute forward Adri Mehmeti pulled the visitors level at 2–2, again with Julian Hall providing the assist and his second key contribution of the night.
Miami introduced veteran striker Luis Suárez for Ian Fray in the 79th minute in search of a late winner, while the Red Bulls freshened their attack with Gustav Berggren and Maxim Choupo-Moting in the closing stages. A yellow card for Mosquera on 80 minutes summed up a tense finale, but neither side could find a decisive goal.
