Segecic and Priske on target as Portsmouth and Birmingham share final-day spoils

Portsmouth FC and Birmingham City FC closed out their Championship campaigns with a 1–1 draw on matchday 46, as early goals from Adrian Segecic and August Priske decided the contest.

The hosts struck first after just eight minutes. Adrian Segecic finished off a well-worked move, converting from a pass by Jordan Williams to give Portsmouth a 1–0 lead and briefly lift the Fratton Park crowd.

Birmingham responded swiftly. In the 19th minute, August Priske pulled the visitors level, taking advantage of service from Kai Wagner to make it 1–1. That proved to be the final goal of the afternoon, with neither side able to find a breakthrough despite spells of pressure at both ends.

The game’s rhythm was disrupted by a series of substitutions and bookings. Birmingham made an early change in the 17th minute, bringing on Seung-Ho Paik for Jay Stansfield, while Portsmouth responded four minutes later as Conor Chaplin replaced John Swift. After the interval, Regan Poole came on for Connor Ogilvie, and later Portsmouth introduced Conor Shaughnessy and Thomas Waddingham in a double switch on 71 minutes.

Luke le Roux picked up the first yellow card of the match for Portsmouth on 39 minutes, before a spate of cautions after the break. Birmingham’s Carlos Vicente was booked on 63 minutes, and a tense spell around the 82nd minute saw cards shown to Bright Osayi-Samuel and Chris Davies for the visitors, and to Adrian Segecic and John Mousinho for Portsmouth. Marlon Pack entered the fray for le Roux on 84 minutes as the hosts looked for late control.

No further goals arrived, and the points were shared at 1–1. Detailed post-match statistics and additional match events were not available at the time of writing.
