Longstaff’s Late Strike Denies Bournemouth in Four-Goal Premier League Thriller
AFC Bournemouth were denied a vital Premier League victory at the last possible moment as Sean Longstaff’s stoppage-time goal earned Leeds United a dramatic 2-2 draw on matchday 34.
The hosts eventually broke the deadlock on the hour mark. Eli Kroupi, who had already been booked in the 25th minute, made amends in style by finishing a move supplied by defender Marcos Senesi to give Bournemouth a 1-0 lead.
Leeds, who had adjusted at half-time by bringing on Joe Rodon for Jayden Bogle, found a route back into the contest eight minutes after Kroupi’s opener. Bournemouth defender James Hill turned the ball into his own net in the 68th minute, levelling the score at 1-1 and shifting the momentum.
Bournemouth manager’s changes then proved influential. David Brooks made way for Rayan in the 67th minute, and the substitute delivered late on. In the 85th minute, Rayan struck what looked to be the winner, converting after good work from fellow substitute Tyler Adams, who had replaced Kroupi in the 73rd minute.
Leeds, however, refused to fold. Brenden Aaronson had been withdrawn for Longstaff just a minute before Rayan’s goal, and the midfielder made his mark deep into added time. In the 90th minute plus seven, Longstaff found the equaliser to make it 2-2, snatching a point for the visitors.
Bournemouth also saw Álex Jiménez and Evanilson booked, while Leeds introduced further attacking options late on, including Lukas Nmecha, Wilfried Gnonto and Joël Piroe, in search of a way back.
Aside from the goals, substitutions and bookings listed, detailed statistical events and full match data were not available. For more on the Premier League and these teams, visit the competition page, Bournemouth and Leeds United profiles, or the full match report.
