Leeds United overpower Burnley with early blitz in Premier League run-in

Leeds United FC strengthened their Premier League position with a controlled 3–1 victory over Burnley FC on matchday 35, powered by early and second-half strikes at Elland Road on Friday night.

Anton Stach set the tone in the 8th minute, finishing after a move created by Jaka Bijol to give Leeds an ideal start at 1–0. The hosts carried that lead into the break, with Burnley struggling to convert possession into clear chances despite a combative first half that saw several bookings on both sides.

Leeds seized full control just after the restart. In the 52nd minute, Noah Okafor doubled the advantage, making it 2–0 after being set up by Jayden Bogle. Four minutes later, Dominic Calvert-Lewin added a third, striking in the 56th minute without an assist recorded, to put the home side 3–0 up and effectively decide the contest.

Burnley responded in the 71st minute when Loum Tchaouna pulled one back, converting from a pass by Jaidon Anthony to reduce the deficit to 3–1. The visitors introduced Hannibal Mejbri, Lucas Pires, Florentino, Zeki Amdouni and Armando Broja from the bench in search of a late revival, but Leeds managed the closing stages well.

The match featured a spate of yellow cards: Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ethan Ampadu were booked for Leeds, while Bashir Humphreys, Tchaouna and Mejbri saw yellow for Burnley. Late substitutions for Leeds included Lukas Nmecha, Sean Longstaff, Brenden Aaronson, Daniel James and Wilfried Gnonto as they saw out the win.

More detailed statistical breakdowns, full lineups and attendance figures were not available at the time of writing.
