FC Barcelona claimed derby bragging rights with a convincing 4–1 win over city rivals RCD Espanyol de Barcelona on matchday 31 of the Primera Division, powered by a Ferrán Torres brace and a late surge at the Olympic Stadium on 11 April 2026.
Barcelona started sharply and were in front inside nine minutes. Ferrán Torres opened the scoring for the hosts, finishing a move created by Lamine Yamal to make it 1–0. The same combination undid Espanyol again in the 25th minute, Yamal once more supplying Torres, who doubled Barça’s advantage.
The first half also brought a flurry of bookings, with Omar El Hilali and Edu Expósito cautioned for Espanyol, while Pablo Gavira and Eric García saw yellow for Barcelona. Further cards followed after the break in an increasingly feisty contest.
Espanyol found a lifeline in the 56th minute when Pol Lozano struck to reduce the deficit to 2–1, briefly shifting the momentum. Lozano later went into the book as the visitors pushed to level the match, making use of a series of substitutions to freshen their attack.
Barcelona, however, reasserted control in the closing stages. Lamine Yamal restored the two-goal cushion with an 87th-minute finish, this time scoring himself for 3–1. Just two minutes later, substitute Marcus Rashford added a fourth, converting after being set up by Frenkie de Jong to seal a comprehensive victory.
Additional yellow cards for Fernando Calero and Urko González underlined Espanyol’s frustration as the match wound down. Both managers turned to their benches heavily, with João Cancelo, Dani Olmo and Rashford among those introduced for Barça.
