Burgzorg Strikes Early as Bristol City Finish Championship Season with Win over Stoke

Bristol City FC closed out their Championship campaign with a confident 2–0 win over Stoke City FC on matchday 46, powered by goals at the very start and the very end of the contest.

The hosts could not have asked for a better start. After barely a minute of play, Delano Burgzorg found the net to give Bristol City a 1–0 lead. The early breakthrough immediately put Stoke on the back foot and set the tone for the afternoon.

Stoke struggled to turn possession into clear chances and found themselves increasingly frustrated. Midfielder Ben Pearson picked up a yellow card in the 35th minute and was replaced at half-time by Tatsuki Seko as the visitors tried to change the momentum.

The second half brought further alterations from Stoke, with Sam Gallagher and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi introduced on 59 minutes and Sydney Agina coming on in the 71st. However, Bristol City managed the game effectively, with Ross McCrorie booked in the 63rd minute during a spell of determined defending.

As Stoke pushed forward in the closing stages, Bristol City struck again. In the 88th minute, substitute Sam Bell made it 2–0, finishing after good work from Rob Dickie, whose assist capped a solid display at the back. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi received a late yellow card for Stoke in stoppage time, underlining the away side’s frustration.

Bristol City’s own changes paid off, with Mark Sykes, Sam Bell and Emil Riis Jakobsen all introduced in the final quarter of the game to help see out the result and add fresh threat on the counter.

Aside from the recorded goals, bookings and substitutions, detailed match statistics and further events were not available at the time of writing.

The victory ensures Bristol City end their regular season on a high, while Stoke are left to reflect on a final-day defeat. Full match information and competition context can be found on the Championship page and the Ballaxy match centre.
