FC Bayern München underlined their title credentials with a commanding 5–0 victory away to FC St. Pauli 1910 on Matchday 29 of the Bundesliga regular season.
Jamal Musiala set the tone early. In the 9th minute, the Bayern playmaker finished a move created by Konrad Laimer, giving the visitors a 1–0 lead that they would never relinquish. Laimer later went into the referee’s book with a yellow card in the 19th minute, the first caution of the afternoon.
The match opened up after the interval. St. Pauli midfielder Joel Fujita received a yellow card in the 52nd minute, and Bayern immediately capitalised on their momentum. Just a minute later, Leon Goretzka struck to double the advantage with a goal in the 53rd minute.
From the restart, Bayern kept their foot on the pedal. In the 54th minute, Michael Olise made it 3–0, converting after a pass from Goretzka. Olise was also booked in the 52nd minute, but his contribution in attack proved far more decisive.
Nicolas Jackson added a fourth in the 65th minute, finishing a move set up by Musiala as Bayern continued to find space in the St. Pauli defence. Jackson then turned provider late on, assisting Raphaël Guerreiro for Bayern’s fifth goal in the 88th minute to complete the rout.
Bayern head coach made full use of his bench as the visitors controlled the second half. Laimer, Joshua Kimmich and Olise were withdrawn just before the hour mark, with Josip Stanišić, Alphonso Davies and Luis Díaz entering the fray around the 58th and 59th minutes. Later, Hiroki Ito was replaced by Jonathan Tah in the 67th minute, and Musiala made way for Bara Sapoko Ndiaye in the 84th minute.
St. Pauli responded with their own changes, bringing on Connor Metcalfe, Martijn Kaars, Louis Oppie and Taichi Hara in the second half, but the hosts could not find a way past Bayern’s defence and finished the match scoreless.
With detailed data on shots, possession and other statistics not available, the scoreline itself tells the story: Bayern were clinical and dominant, while St. Pauli were left chasing shadows in a one-sided encounter.
