Archer Brace Fires Port Vale to Impressive Win at Peterborough

Ethon Archer scored a decisive brace as Port Vale FC claimed an impressive 3–1 away win over Peterborough United FC in League One on matchday 36.

The visitors made a perfect start, going ahead inside three minutes. Onel Hernández drove at the Peterborough defence before supplying Ryan Croasdale, who finished to put Port Vale 1–0 up.

Port Vale doubled their lead in the 16th minute. Archer struck his first of the night, extending the advantage to 2–0 and leaving the home side with a mountain to climb.

Peterborough responded on 31 minutes to drag themselves back into the contest. James Dornelly found the net after being set up by Matthew Garbett, halving the deficit at 2–1 and raising hopes of a turnaround for the hosts.

Those hopes were dented just before the hour mark. In the 59th minute, Archer struck again for his second goal of the game, restoring Port Vale’s two-goal cushion at 3–1 and ultimately sealing the points.

Both managers turned to their benches in the second half, with Hernández replaced by Liam Gordon for Port Vale on 52 minutes, while Peterborough introduced Cian Hayes shortly after. Further changes followed, including the arrival of David Kamara and Oluwalopemiwa Aderoju for the home side, and Cameron Humphreys, Ben Waine and Dajaune Brown entering for the visitors.

The game saw two yellow cards late on: Kamara was booked for Peterborough in the 69th minute, followed a minute later by a caution for Port Vale defender Tyler Magloire.
