Vermeij Strike Lifts Dynamo Dresden to Narrow Win Over Kaiserslautern
SG Dynamo Dresden edged past 1. FC Kaiserslautern 1–0 on Saturday, with Vincent Vermeij’s precise second-half finish proving decisive on 2. Bundesliga matchday 32.
In a tightly contested encounter with limited clear-cut chances reported, the breakthrough arrived in the 68th minute. Vermeij converted for the hosts after being set up by Alexander Rossipal, putting Dresden 1–0 ahead and ultimately securing all three points.
The match had begun to open up shortly beforehand, with both coaches turning to their benches around the hour mark. Dresden introduced Jakob Lemmer for Jason Ceka in the 65th minute, while Kaiserslautern responded by bringing on David Schramm for Leon Robinson at the same time, followed a minute later by Norman Bassette replacing Marlon Ritter.
Discipline became a theme in the second half. Fabian Kunze picked up a yellow card for Kaiserslautern in the 58th minute, and teammate Paul Joly was also booked in the 73rd minute as the visitors chased an equaliser. A flurry of cautions arrived late on: Dresden’s goalkeeper Tim Schreiber and Kofi Amoako, along with Kaiserslautern’s Semih Sahin, were all shown yellow cards in the 85th minute. Robert Wagner received Dresden’s final booking in the 90th minute.
Dresden made further changes to protect their lead, with Luca Herrmann and Christoph Daferner replacing Niklas Hauptmann and goalscorer Vermeij in the 80th minute. Nils Fröling and Lukas Boeder later came on for Ben Bobzien and Amoako, while Kaiserslautern introduced Erik Wekesser, Ben Jungfleisch and Atanas Chernev in an attacking triple substitution on 83 minutes.
Despite the visitors’ late pressure, Dresden held firm to close out the victory. More granular statistics such as shots, possession figures, and full lineups were not available at the time of writing.
