Torino Fight Back from Two Goals Down to Hold Inter in Serie A Thriller
Torino FC produced a spirited comeback to earn a 2-2 draw against FC Internazionale Milano on Serie A matchday 34, rallying from two goals down in the second half on Sunday.
Inter struck first on 23 minutes, with Marcus Thuram-Ulien opening the scoring. The French forward finished off a move created by Federico Dimarco, who provided the assist to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Dimarco was again involved just after the hour mark. In the 61st minute, he set up Yann Aurel Bisseck, who made it 2-0 to Inter and appeared to put Simone Inzaghi’s side in full control of the contest.
Torino, however, responded strongly. Head coach Roberto D’Aversa turned to his bench early in the second half, introducing Luca Marianucci and Alieu Njie before a double switch on 67 minutes brought on Cesare Casadei and Duván Zapata. The changes helped tilt momentum toward the hosts.
On 70 minutes, Giovanni Simeone pulled one back, finishing after good work by Emirhan Ilkhan, whose assist cut the deficit to 2-1. The comeback was completed nine minutes later. Torino were awarded a penalty in the 79th minute, and Nikola Vlašić stepped up to convert from the spot, levelling the match at 2-2.
The closing stages were tense, with a flurry of yellow cards: D’Aversa was booked for Torino in the 81st minute, followed by cautions for Inter’s Andy Diouf (84′) and Nicolò Barella (86′), and Torino’s Enzo Ebosse (85′). Inter had earlier brought on Francesco Esposito, and later introduced Diouf, Denzel Dumfries and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, while Davide Frattesi replaced Bisseck on 87 minutes. Torino withdrew Simeone for Adrien Tameze in stoppage time.
The draw leaves both sides to reflect on missed opportunities: Inter squandered a two-goal lead, while Torino might feel they could have completed the turnaround. Detailed statistics such as possession, shots and attendance were not available at the time of writing.
