Swan Strikes Late as Bradford City Battle Back to Hold Plymouth Argyle

Bradford City AFC recovered from an early setback to draw 1–1 at home with Plymouth Argyle FC on League One matchday 40, as substitute Will Swan struck in the second half to earn a share of the points.

Plymouth started sharply and went in front inside eight minutes. Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu finished off a move for the visitors, with Lorent Tolaj providing the assist as Argyle grabbed an early 1–0 lead.

The opening period was disrupted for the away side when Brendan Galloway was replaced by Matthew Sorinola in the 29th minute. Plymouth also collected a series of bookings before the break, with Alexander Mitchell and Malachi Boateng both cautioned in the first half.

After the interval, Bradford turned to their bench in search of a response. A double change on 63 minutes saw Nick Powell replace Josh Neufville and Will Swan come on for Jenson Metcalfe. The switch paid off, as Swan found the equaliser in the 72nd minute, making it 1–1 and shifting the momentum in favour of the hosts.

Plymouth continued to pick up yellow cards, with Owen Dale, Sorinola and Aribim Pepple all booked in the second half. Bradford’s George Lapslie was also shown a late yellow card on 90 minutes as the contest grew increasingly scrappy.

There was a tactical reshuffle in stoppage time when Bradford brought on Matthew Pennington for Stephen Humphrys to help see out the result. No further goals followed, and the match finished level.
