Second-Half Surge Sends FC Porto Past Tondela in Primeira Liga

FC Porto secured a controlled 2–0 home victory over CD Tondela on matchday 30 of the Primeira Liga, with both goals arriving after the interval and heavily influenced by coach-led adjustments at half-time.

The first half featured few decisive moments in front of goal but plenty of intensity, reflected in early yellow cards for Porto’s Jakub Kiwior (19′) and Rodrigo Mora (35′), as well as a booking for Tondela midfielder Joe Hodge on the stroke of half-time (45′). With the scores level at the break, Porto turned to their bench.

Those changes proved pivotal. At the restart, Kiwior and Mora were replaced by Pablo Rosario and Gabriel Veiga, and within three minutes Veiga made the difference. In the 48th minute, the midfielder finished off a move assisted by Deniz Gul to give Porto a 1–0 lead.

Tondela sought a response with a double substitution on 63 minutes, introducing Makan Aïko and Sphephelo Sithole, but Porto tightened their grip soon after. In the 65th minute, Victor Froholdt struck Porto’s second goal, pushing the hosts into a comfortable 2–0 advantage.

As Tondela chased the game, further changes followed on both sides, including the introduction of Thiago Silva and William da Silva for Porto, and Arjen van der Heide, João Afonso and later Hugo Félix for the visitors. The closing stages grew increasingly fractious, with yellow cards shown to Christian Marques (50′), Sithole (80′), Alberto Baio (84′) and a flurry of stoppage-time cautions for Veiga, Félix and Rodrigo Conceição (all 90′).

No additional goals arrived, and Porto saw out the match to claim all three points in their regular-season campaign. Detailed statistics such as possession, shots and full lineups were not available at the time of writing.
