Ruthless Rennes Hit Strasbourg for Three in Ligue 1 Cruise

Stade Rennais FC 1901 produced a clinical away performance to defeat RC Strasbourg Alsace 3–0 on Ligue 1 matchday 30, tightening their grip on a strong finish to the regular season.

The visitors struck first on 20 minutes. Esteban Lepaul opened the scoring, finishing a move created by Sebastian Szymański to give Rennes an early 1–0 advantage and silence the home crowd.

Strasbourg responded after the break with a change at half-time as RC Strasbourg introduced Martial Godo for David Fofana. However, any hopes of a comeback quickly faded in the second half.

Breel Embolo doubled the lead in the 50th minute, making it 2–0 to Rennes after being set up by Lepaul. Just two minutes later, the game was effectively over when Musa Al Taamari struck a third, finishing an assist from Ludovic Blas to stretch the scoreline to 3–0.

Strasbourg coach turned to his bench again in the 57th minute, sending on Samir El Mourabet, Andrew Omobamidele and Julio Enciso in a triple substitution, but the home side could not find a way back into the contest. Tyrese Noubissie also came on late, replacing Sebastian Nanasi on 82 minutes.

Rennes, already firmly in control, managed their advantage through a series of changes. Alidu Seidu, Embolo and Al Taamari made way on 68 minutes for Mahamadou Nagida, Djaoui Cissé and Arnaud Nordin, while Glen Kamara replaced Mahdi Camara on 82 minutes and Yassir Zabiri came on for Szymański in the closing stages.

The visitors’ only booking went to Szymański, who was shown a yellow card in the 44th minute.
