Mirandés Fight Back From Two Down to Deny Ten-Man Castellón

CD Mirandés staged a spirited comeback to draw 2–2 at home against CD Castellón on matchday 35 of the Segunda División, overturning a two-goal first-half deficit in a match that swung dramatically after the break.

Castellón looked in full control before half-time. Adam Jakobsen opened the scoring in the 30th minute, finishing after good work from Álex Calatrava. Just three minutes later, the roles were reversed: Calatrava doubled the visitors’ lead in the 33rd minute, this time assisted by Pablo Santiago, putting Mirandés under serious pressure at 0–2.

Mirandés responded after the interval. In the 54th minute, Unax del Cura pulled one back with a regular-time strike that brought the hosts back into the contest. The momentum fully shifted on 65 minutes when Coarasa levelled the match at 2–2, finishing a move created by Fernando Medrano’s assist.

Castellón’s task became even tougher moments later. Defender Jérémy Mellot was shown a straight red card in the 66th minute, leaving the away side to defend their point with ten men for the final stages. Despite the numerical disadvantage and further late pressure from Mirandés, Castellón held on. Substitute Marc-Olivier Doué, introduced in the 78th minute and booked on 83 minutes, was among several changes as the visitors tried to stabilise.

Both coaches turned to their benches in search of an edge, with Mirandés bringing on Hugo Novoa and Pablo Pérez, while Castellón introduced Awer Mabil, Brian Cipenga, Álvaro García and others to freshen the side.

With the available data limited to goals, cards and substitutions, further match statistics and detailed minute-by-minute events are not currently available. The result nevertheless represents a valuable point for Mirandés after a difficult first half, while Castellón will rue letting a two-goal lead slip and finishing with ten men.
