Late drama as ten-man Ceuta snatch point at Real Zaragoza in Segunda División thriller
Real Zaragoza were denied a vital home win in the Segunda División as ten-man AD Ceuta FC battled back to secure a 2–2 draw in a dramatic finale on matchday 36.
The visitors struck first on 32 minutes. Konrad de la Fuente put Ceuta ahead, finishing a move created by Anuar Tuhami, who supplied the assist to make it 0–1. Zaragoza were forced into a triple reshuffle before the break, with Lucas Martínez, Keidi Bare and Hugo Pinilla all substituted before half-time.
The game swung after the interval. Ceuta’s Yago Cantero was sent off in the 49th minute, leaving the away side to defend their lead with ten men. Zaragoza quickly capitalised: in the 57th minute Roberto González levelled the score at 1–1, converting after good work from Francho Serrano.
Relentless Zaragoza pressure eventually brought what looked like a decisive breakthrough. In the 85th minute, Dani Gómez stepped up to score from the penalty spot, putting the hosts 2–1 ahead as the match moved into its closing stages.
Ceuta, however, refused to fold. The visitors’ bench made a series of changes, including the introduction of José Campaña, who proved crucial. In the 89th minute, Campaña set up Marcos Fernández to fire home an equaliser, rescuing a 2–2 draw against the run of play.
Ceuta collected a flurry of bookings, with yellow cards shown to Carlos Hernández, Anuar Tuhami, José Juan Romero, José Matos and goalscorer Marcos Fernández, underlining the intensity of their rearguard effort after the red card. Zaragoza’s Roberto González was also booked in the second half.
