Costa Strike Cancelled Out as Mallorca and Valencia Share the Points
RCD Mallorca and Valencia CF played out a 1–1 draw in the Primera Division on 21 April 2026, with both sides trading second-half goals in a tight matchday 33 encounter.
After a goalless first half, the game came to life shortly after the restart. In the 49th minute, Samuel Almeida Costa broke the deadlock for Mallorca, finishing off a move created by Sergi Darder. The midfielder’s assist freed Costa to put the hosts 1–0 up and briefly tilt the contest in their favour.
Valencia had already been forced into an early reshuffle when Thierry Correia was replaced by Renzo Saravia in the 11th minute. Goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski went into the book on 41 minutes, and Guido Rodríguez followed with a yellow card seven minutes into the second half as the visitors battled to stay in touch.
The turning point for Valencia came around the hour mark with a triple substitution, introducing Arnaut Danjuma, Luis Rioja and Javier Guerra. The latter made an immediate impact. In the 67th minute, Guerra set up Umar Sadiq, who levelled the score at 1–1, ensuring the visitors capitalised on their fresh legs from the bench.
Mallorca responded with changes of their own, bringing on Jan Virgili, Antonio Sánchez, David López and later Javier Llabres, while Valencia introduced Jesús Vázquez Alcalde in the closing stages. Despite these adjustments, neither side could find a late winner.
The draw leaves both clubs with a point apiece as the regular season moves into its final stretch. More detailed match statistics, full lineups and attendance figures were not available at the time of writing.
