Como 1907 stun Genoa with clinical 2–0 away win in Serie A
Como 1907 claimed an impressive 2–0 away win over Genoa CFC on Serie A matchday 34, capitalising on key moments at both ends of the pitch in a controlled performance.
The visitors struck early in the 10th minute. Anastasios Douvikas opened the scoring for Como, finishing a move created by Lucas Da Cunha. The goal gave Como an immediate platform and forced Genoa to chase the game from the outset.
Discipline briefly threatened to become an issue for Como before the break. Diego Carlos was booked in the 37th minute, followed two minutes later by a yellow card for Assane Diao as the visitors committed to aggressive defending to protect their lead.
Both sides made changes at half-time, with Genoa replacing goalkeeper Justin Bijlow with Nicola Leali, while Como introduced Maxence Caqueret for Nico Paz. The French midfielder would later play a decisive role.
In the 57th minute, Como adjusted their back line as Marc-Oliver Kempf came on for the cautioned Diego Carlos. Genoa responded by bringing on Junior Messias for Sebastian Otoa in search of more attacking impetus.
Como’s second goal arrived in the 68th minute and effectively settled the contest. Assane Diao doubled the advantage, finishing after being set up by Caqueret to make it 2–0 to the visitors.
Genoa made a double attacking change on 70 minutes, introducing Ruslan Malinovskiy and Lorenzo Colombo, and later Maxwel Cornet on 81 minutes, but were unable to break down a disciplined Como side. Diao and Douvikas were withdrawn in the 81st minute, with Álvaro Morata and Ignace Van Der Brempt entering to help Como see out the match.
The closing stages saw further cards, with Junior Messias booked for Genoa and Kempf cautioned for Como in stoppage time. No additional goals followed, sealing a composed away victory for Como.
